FAQ

  • Can I rent golf clubs as part of my package?

Yes, you can rent golf clubs if you are not bringing your own clubs to Japan. Club rentals can be added to any package. Japan Golf Tours can provide full-set rentals that include everything you need and some courses also have clubs available for rent.

  • Does Japan Golf Tours offer tours everywhere in Japan?

We are based in Osaka, which is in the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara), so this is where our services are currently available. Luckily for us, Kansai is a golfer’s paradise with hundreds of courses to match any player’s preferences. If you are looking to plan a golf experience in a different part of Japan, contact us and we can try to work something out.

  • Can I book a package as a solo golfer?

Yes, for all tour packages, your Japan Golf Tours host will play the round with you. Some courses allow twosomes, but the course selection may be limited. There is also usually a small additional charge from the course to play as a twosome.

  • Do I have to stop for the lunch break or can I play a full 18 holes without stopping?

It depends on the booking, but most courses offer both options. When you are booking/planning your tour, we can discuss the options based on your preferences.

  • Can you play golf year-round in Japan?

Yes, you can play golf year-round. Some courses in the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara) will close temporarily if there is snow in the mountains, but there are almost always some courses available.

  • When is the best time of year to play golf in Japan?

In the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara), the best seasons for golf are spring and fall due to relatively mild temperatures. If you visit in late March or early April, there will be a good chance of enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms blooming on many courses. Of course, any season is good for golf as far as we are concerned.

  • How long is an average round of golf in Japan?

The average round takes around 4 hours and 30 minutes. However, most people break for a 45-60 minute lunch between nines. This makes the total time of an average round about 5 to 6 hours depending on the pace of play.

  • Can I play a round in the morning and be free to do other things in the afternoon?

It is possible if your tee-time is early in the morning. From pick-up to drop-off with a 7:00 AM tee-time and no lunch break, you could be back at your hotel by 2:00 PM. We can always try to figure out a solution if you have a tight schedule.

  • Can all golfers use the locker rooms and bath/shower facilities?

Yes, use of the locker room and bath facilities are always included as part of your tour package. The bath/shower facilities typically have an onsen (shared bath) with mostly traditional sitting shower stations and some standing shower stalls.

  • Do I have to use a golf cart or can I walk the course?

Use of a four-person golf cart is included with all green fees. The carts at most courses are guided by an embedded wire on the cart path and can be advanced with a remote control that stays with one of the players. This allows golfers to ride or walk as much as they choose to.

  • Do any of the the golf packages include accommodations?

The golf packages do not include accommodation, but we would be glad to provide some hotel recommendations that would make your stay in the Kansai region more enjoyable. Where you stay can have a big impact on your Japan travel experience and we would be happy to share some local knowledge.
